Woops!
Shoot, I was so eager o finally get my showreel in and getting it done I didn't realize that the animation I implimented into the 'Final' Showreel was three animations behind the most current up to date animation with my personal projects! It's too late for my final submittal which is totally gutting, but 100% my silly fault. but at least I can swap it out for the industry showreel. I also need to render all of the videos out at the same frame size for the industry one.

Final Major Showreel
alright! here it is! the final major showreel. quite a bit different than what was planned several months ago, but it has been a huge learning process and as I developed as an animator so did my understanding of what I needed and how to go about making it. the only thing missing is the final renders for Garden Galexy, they won't be in my production showreel either, well, not until after the Glamies anyways, bless teh little bugges, they're working they're butts off, so I don't mind the wait, it will totally be worth it!

Personal Project sc03
I havent blogged in a while, everything crashed and I had to re animate it all from scratch. I've only just caught up with a day left. here is the third scene of my personal movie, first thing tomorrow I'll tidy it up and stick it all in premier with the correct sounds which I edited today.

Mr. Edward's Project
So this being the first post for Ed, I'll go over a few brief encounters of the fourth kind, In actuality I've only Just got the animatable rigs! fare enough to Ed he doesn't want to be a rigger and ended up doing all of it by himself, and I can honestly say they're not too to bad! Can't animate too to much with them as the more they move the more they break, but I'm figuring out a way around that! but at the moment I've created a little movie of the animation so far. It's an ingame animation sequence, which are much preffered to game movement animations. So please comment and hope you enjoy!

Personal Project 02
the second scene the runs in strait from the first one, after watching this I did some major remodeling to the exterior, the original was a house I made for a past project and somehow over the months it has just deteriorated, i've also smoothed out some of the animation, I'll render the first and second shot together next week to string together.
Personal Project 01
So I've decided to drop the original idea of having several scenes of the dog waiting, they where just too quick to get any understanding of any sort of story, especially with the limitations of my home made dog rig. So now I'm doing several characteristic loops as well as a slightly more dramatized version of the dog meets man animation. If only I knew what I knew now several months ago, things would have gone allot differently, but I've been saying that since I started at Uni, which is good, it means I'm progressing as an animator! here is sort of the new opening of the new dog meets man animation. it's only the first second, it ties into the next shot where he lifts up his head double checking the sound before taking off for the front door! I guess I'm finding out one of my strongest skills, is my story telling ability. It's the way I understand everything. Unfortunately it does get in the way sometimes when the teacher wants things in a strait animation style, like in the thumbnails, it becomes difficult to get my mind out of the story telling mode. I still don't have a full grasp of what he was asking, but I'm looking into it!

Everyone agreed that the walk up to the telescope was very robotic and needed more life, so i'm trying to go in a completely new direction and seeing how that looks, I have animated the gist of it and am waiting for approval before spending more time. well, the only thing missing really is the getting up at the end before final pass tweakings

New ways to animate
So I've currently learned all about the benefits of doing small variations of the same scene for a client, it really takes no time at all, but instead of sitting there wondering and stressing about small sections of a whole and waiting for a reply, then changing it as a whole, then waiting for a reply, do all the variations of all the parts, send them and he cant tell you the best of each, then piece it together and viola! It certainly makes Me feel more confident about the direction the work is headed in if anything else! I wont post all the videos, only the resaults :)

So it's been quite a while since I've posted, I've been having issues with files getting corrupt and has had to redo quite a few scenes from scratch. As you can see there have been quite a few little things that has changed with this scene, but I do think it is allot better, cuter too!

There are allot of cool updates on the rigs which made it allot easier allot more fun to control and animate, with this scene I just have to make sure I'm getting the right extreme pose for the little guy wanting help looking higher, well, being physically higher, so technically wanting to look further down.

Crouch_Fwd
Here is the first run thru of crouched walking forward for the Dann's game project, it has to be on the spot, the moving forward action and speed will be determined by the player pressing forward on the control stick! saweet! I'm not sure if the character should take bigger steps, or if they want her crouched down even further, etc.. will try both tomorrow and see if it turnes out better!

Aaaall Rightythen! I've done a bit more tweeking, watched out for negative spaces, taken off the tweenings, adjusted the timing of each pose so nothing snaps, and voila! I can't do the next scene yet as I need the Director's input on how he would prefer them to climb the, which come up to the little critter's waist! are they crawling, jumping, etc..? I imagine a toddler type movement, maybe i can get some footage of my neice as refference!?

Sc02_Sh04 (scene 1 out of 5 for me)
This is the first scene I'm working on for the Garden Galaxies project, an award winning idea by three guys currently doing their masters in animation of which I'm really excited to be working on! It has been a great learning curve, even seeing the differences in qualities between everything I've worked on so far to this one has really pushed me to dramatically improve my animation skills in order to do it justice
Animation Insomnia
As I had trouble sleeping last night, I decided it would be fun and relaxing to give myself an animation goal, do a walk cycle with a biped, something I haven't really done since the beginning of my first year, in under an hour. didn't turn out too badly I might say! legs snap a little, but a little tweak could easily fix that.
Idle_Dbl_Jump
This is a dbl_Jump for Dann Rees's Project, it is then cut into spacific parts for the game engine's tree, so the game will be able to play the appropriate animation depending on what you make the character do! I've put it all together as some of them are like, 5 frames long (1/6th of a second). and it looks wierd as the camera is attached next to the guy, so you can't see it in real action, jumping away from the floor, off a cliff or something.

Thanks to Kyle Chapman I have now created my first blog thingy! Amazing technological advances these days! Amazing!! I will be using this space to upload different videos and posts about the projects I am currently working on. I will try to keep this as up to date as I can, We'll see how it goes! comments and critiques MORE than welcome! anything to help me get better and make a better animation!
